Brief
Project Description:
With creative illustrative style create an illustration of people/people as zombies playing Pokemon Go.
Client/Sender:
Joshua Peterson/ “mock” client
Message:
In todays world we appear as mindless zombies attached to our phones and games.
Audience:
people, client.
Purpose/Objectives/Desired Response:
Get people to at least notice that hordes of people playing Pokemon Go looks and even seems like hordes of zombies wandering around, that it might be a problem, and that players should be watchful as they play to the environment around them and not just the game.
Specifications:
8.5 by 11, due 2 weeks.
Design Concept/Thematic Statement:
I would like to make a surreal/ fictional illustration of zombie Pokemon Go players. Either from ink and watercolor or with very strong complimentary colors.
Picture Board:

Illustration Roughs:
These are different composition ideas I had in terms of the number of zombies I'm going to do for my illustration concept rough. Below are the other two ideas I had, two are versions of a car scenario, the other's a classroom.

Final Illustration:
All right, I have three versions to be honest (though the last two are basically the same). The first shows only Pokemon related items in color, colored digitally because Pokemon Go is a digital game and so color becomes my dividing factor from the zombies. The zombies are left in pencil-style, a grey chaotic mess of awesomeness to highlight a messy zombie apocalypse.
The second illustration is a fully colored version to provoke a different, and also dark mood, with that intention of a Zombie Phone Pokemon Go Apocalypse- again, a narrative take on how when there are a lot of Pokemon Go players in once place, it does appear as if they are roaming herds of zombies glued to their phones and drawn to Poke-stops. There is only a slight difference between the the last two images, where I've left the option open for the design flow of the Pokemon Lure-spot Flowers to stay above the crowed vs in the crowd.
Illustration Price: $700.
Semiotic Point of View:
My illustration has a lot going on, and semiotically speaking, I think it has all three. The zombies (#1) are actually icons-just that- hand drawn images zombies. Also, the fountain I drew is just that, a fountain, and the same for the phones. The "Lure" (#2) up above is a symbol, it's a learned image meaning if you play the Pokemon Go game. It also has index, which is my combo of Pokemon-Go dressed zombies in the setting of a public place (by the fountain) to represent a phone apocalypse. (#3).
